RAMS EARN 10TH WIN OF THE SEASON WITH 4-1 VICTORY OVER FLORIDA ATLANTIC

The short story:
 After trailing 0-1, VCU responded with four consecutive points on the singles court to earn their 10th win of the seaon by defeating the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla. Sophomores Janina Braun and Anna Rasmussen won their singles match, as well as senior Darya Berezhnaya and freshman Gabriela Araujo.

FIRST SERVE

  • Braun tied the match at 1-1 by defeating Lyndsey Boos in consecutive sets. She leads the team with 17 wins, and is 17-4 overall thus far.
  • Araujo gave the Rams the first lead of the match. She downed Naiya Oden in consecutive sets as well. The rookie now holds 10-9 overall record.
  • Berezhnaya's win on the fourth court put The Black and Gold ahead 3-1. She remains second on the team with 16 wins, and is 16-5 overall.
  • Rasmussen solidified the win for the Rams by defeating Ana Gutierrez on the second court with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory. She sophomore holds a 14-6 overall so far this season.
