The short story: The Rams put together a solid team performance to defeat Saint Louis 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center. After securing the doubles point, VCU jumped to an early 1-0 lead and didn't look back.
FIRST SERVE
- Senior Darya Berezhnaya and Noumea Witmus defeated Cassie McKenzie and Ariana Rodriguez.
- Shortly after, Magda Aubets and Gabriela Araujo downed Ally McKenzie and Mariluz Rojo Domingo to earn the lone doubles point.
- Sophomore Janina Braun continued her dominant play thus far. She gave the Rams a 2-0 lead by winning her singles match in consecutive sets. She is now 14-4 overall this season.
- Sophomore Anna Rasmussen also won her singles match in consecutive sets. She holds a 11-6 record on the year.
- Berezhnaya earned another point to give the Rams a commanding 4-0 lead. She defeated Cassie McKenzie in consecutive sets and is now 13-5 overall in singles play.
- Magda Aubets also collected a point. She downed Ally McKenzie, 6-3, 6-3 and holds a 12-6 record thus far.
- With a 5-1 lead, freshman Noumea Witmus finished the match strong for The Black and Gold. She defeated Ariana Rodriguez in consectuve sets.
