RAMS DOMINANT IN HOME OPENER

The short story:  The Rams continued their dominant singles play as they defeated both Morgan State and George Mason VCU 4-1 Invitational Friday, Jan. 27 at the Thalhimer Tennis Center. The Black and Gold finished the day with a perfect 7-0 overall singles record.
FIRST SERVE

  • Newcomer Noumea Witmus collected her first career singles win by defeating Morgan State's Yvonne Peters-Washington in consecutive sets, 6-0, 7-5.
  • Sophomores Anna Rasmussen and Janina Braun won both of their singles matches. The two are now 2-0 in dual singles matches this season.
  • Senior Darya Berezhnaya dominated George Mason's Liz Lowe in consecutive sets to earn her first dual match of the season.
  • Freshman Gabriela Araujo improved to a 2-0 dual singles record.
  • Magda Aubets and Witmus earned the first point of the second match for the Rams by defeating George Mason's Sydney Green and Rachel Lee, 6-3, 6-0.
