NINTH-RANKED DUKE HALTS VCU POSTSEASON RUN

The short story: VCU's outstanding 2016 season came to a conclusion today, as ninth-ranked Duke overpowered the Rams 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Durham, North Carolina.
 
FIRST SERVE
  • VCU entered Friday's match riding a season-high seven-match win streak, but were unable to gain traction against the Blue Devils' highly regarded lineup. The Rams had not lost since March 26.
  • Senior Olga Barshcheuskaya fell 6-4, 6-1 to 65th-ranked Chalena School on the No. 1 court. Barshcheuskaya concludes her decorated career with a 59-29 singles mark. She won more than 100 combined singles and doubles matches as a Ram. She is one of two VCU Women's Tennis players to win four conference championships.
  • VCU was making its 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
