RAMS SLIP PAST JAMES MADISON IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

The short story: Olga Barshcheuskaya and Anna Rasmussen dominated for VCU at the top two singles positions as the Rams build an early lead and took down former conference rival James Madison Sunday in Harrisonburg.
 
FIRST SERVE
  • VCU won its season-high fourth straight match Sunday.
  • Rasmussen and Janina Braun continue to impress as freshmen. Playing on the No. 2 singles court, Rasmussen streaked past Rachel Nelson, 6-1, 6-1. A native of Holte, Denmark, Rasmussen improved to a team-best 15-8 in singles action this season.
  • Braun, meanwhile, is 13-4 since she joined VCU in time for the spring season. She routed Emma Petersen, 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 4 court.
  • Barshcheuskaya, improved to 3-1 this month since returning from injury. She knocked off Timea Guibe, 6-1, 6-3 at first position.
