The short story: Janina Braun was a bright spot for VCU Saturday, as the freshman from Berlin, Germany, scored a singles win on the No. 3 court, but the Rams couldn't hold off Middle Tennessee State in Memphis.
FIRST SERVE
- Braun actually won both her matches this weekend and improved to 9-4 this spring. On Saturday, she had little trouble with the Raiders' Luisa Zirilli. Braun cruised 6-4, 6-2.
- VCU also received a win on the No. 3 doubles court as freshmen Magda Aubets and Yana Morar paired for a 6-3 victory over Zirilli and Alory Pereira.
