How It Happened
- It was all VCU in the opening minutes as Dakota Barnathan's header found the back of the net off a Jason McGlothern corner kick in the sixth minute to give VCU an early 1-0 advantage.
- UCLA rallied following Barnathan's goal, but the Rams defense and Pierre Gardan were there to halt any chance.
- The Bruins scored the equalizer in the 30th minute behind a goal from Seyi Adekoya.
- A penalty kick from Larry Ndjock's in the 56th minute, gave UCLA its first lead of the match.
- In the 65th minute, both Barnathan and Luc Fatton looked to break through and tie the match back up, but their chances were denied.
- With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Cody Sweatte's shot was blocked by Bruin defenders, allowing UCLA to secure their lead.
Notes
