  • The Short Story: Senior Kharlton Belmar and junior Devon Fisher scored goals in the first 20 minutes to lead the VCU men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Northeastern on Friday night.
How It Happened
  • The Rams peppered the Husky net early with seven first-half shots, thanks to early pressure from Mario Herrera Meraz and Belmar.
  • Belmar broke down the Northeastern defense in the 13th minute, maneuvering through defenders and firing his second goal of the season into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
  • Less than three minutes later, Fisher picked up a loose ball and lofted a shot from 30 yards out into the back of the net to extend VCU's lead to 2-0.
  • From there, the Black & Gold defense held Northeastern to just five shots on the evening and posting its second shutout of the evening.
