  • VCU would turn it on in the final 10 minutes, firing four of its five shots in that stretch.
  • In the 63rd minute, Combs deposited the equalizer into the back of the cage off an assist from freshman Spencer Tossone.
  • Combs would strike again with less than a minute to play, taking an assist from classmate Kacie Yang off a corner and putting the Rams ahead, 2-1.
  • William & Mary got an extended corner as time expired, but the VCU defense was once again able to break it up to preserve the home win for the Black & Gold.
Quotable
  • "Tonight's win was a effort from 19 players, coaches and all of our amazing support staff. It was a tough and competitive game with many emotions but I am proud of us all for staying composed through 70 minutes."  - Senior Kendell Combs
  • "Tonight's game was a scrappy back and forth game that really didn't allow either team to settle in to. We played quite well in the first half but a mental lapse in the last minute of the half meant we went into the break down a goal. To come from behind and get the two goals that we needed with only 8minutes left in the game showed great resilience and determination from the entire team. We didn't give up today and in the end it helped us to get the result!" - Head CoachLaura Baker
Up Next
