Skyler Naves joined the VCU Sports Medicine staff in the fall of 2024. She primarily provides care and coverage for Cross Country and Track and Field. Skyler comes to VCU from Vanderbilt, where she completed an internship with their Cross Country and Track and Field programs.

Skyler earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science (2020) from Coastal Carolina and a Master of Science in Athletic Training (2024) from James Madison. During her time as an athletic training student at JMU, she worked cheerleading, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, football, and women’s cross country/track and field.

Skyler is currently licensed in the State of Virginia and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association (VATA). She is CRP/AED certified, and is a CRP/AED certified instructor. She is also certified in Dry Needling (Level 1) from Structure and Function. Skyler is also trained in Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation (BFR) and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM).

During her free time, Skyler enjoys spending time with her dog, Benji, cooking, hiking, painting, and reading.
