Mike Sanders currently serves as the Senior Associate AD for Finance & Internal Operations. As the CFO for the Athletic Department, he also oversees Information Technology, Equipment Operations, Facilities Operations & Events, Human Resources, Ticket Operations, and Concessions & Catering. He is also the Sports Supervisor for the Men's and Women's Soccer programs. Sanders joined VCU Athletics as the Assistant AD for Business Services in August 2017 and served in that role until being promoted to CFO in the Fall of 2020.
Prior to VCU, Sanders worked at the University of Maryland Athletic Department from 2012-2017. At Maryland he was responsible for budget reporting, assisted with the preparation of the Athletics operating budget, and was integral in writing policies and procedures.
Sanders holds a bachelor's degree in Business with a concentration in Sports Management from Mount St. Mary's University. He also holds a masters degree in Sports Administration from Ball State University.
Sanders and his wife, Lexa, reside in Glen Allen with their children Cameron and Maya.
