Ashley Early joined VCU’s Sports Medicine staff in October 2024 as the assistant athletic trainer for women’s lacrosse, overseeing and providing comprehensive medical care for the team. She brings post-operative and administrative experience from her prior role as clinical athletic trainer at VCU Health.

From August 2022 to June 2023, she served as the assistant athletic trainer intern for VCU’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

Early received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science from VCU in 2016, and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Athletic Training from Shenandoah in 2022. 

She is a licensed healthcare professional by the Virginia Board of Medicine, and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). She has her Dry Needling (SFDN1), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Orthopedic Physician Extender (OPE-C), Graston M1, Functional Movement Screen Level 1 (FMS), Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, and Adult Mental Health First Aid certifications.

Early is originally from Charlottesville, Va. She enjoys the outdoors, supporting local coffee shops, spending time with loved ones and the occasional shopping spree for shoes.
