The short story: Senior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini (Rome, Italy) dropped 14 kills to power VCU to its sixth straight victory Friday night.

OPENING VOLLEY

  • Giommarini hit .400 in 25 swings for the Rams and also provided four digs and two blocks
  • Senior middle blocker Jasmin Sneed (San Antonio, Texas) continued her torrid campaign with seven blocks and nine kills. She hit .400 in the match
  • Seniors Jaelyn Jackson (South Chesterfield, Va.) and Gina Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va.) supplied eight kills apiece for the Black and Gold. Jackson hit .700 and added a pair of blocks
  • On the back row, senior Madalon Simpson (Louisville, Ky.) provided 13 digs
  • Hattie Rodriguez spiked 10 kills to pace Davidson

THE DIFFERENCE

  • VCU was dominant across the board. The Rams hit .422 in the match and committed just 10 hitting errors on the evening
  • The Rams outblocked Davidson 9-3 and outdug the Wildcats 31-25. The Black and Gold also owned a 4-2 advantage in service aces

NOTABLE

  • VCU leads the all-time series with Davidson 12-1. The Rams have not lost to the Wildcats since 1994
  • Giommarini inched closer to sixth place on VCU's career kills list. She now has 1,022 career kills. Cindy O'Brien (1,045) is next up.
