RICHMOND, Va. – Redshirt senior middle blocker Jaelyn Jackson (South Chesterfield, Va.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Jackson, a graduate transfer from Baylor, earned the honor following a week in which she averaged 1.69 blocks per set. Her effort included three VCU wins at the Carolina Classic, hosted by North Carolina.
The South Chesterfield native's week included a nine-block performance in a sweep of Radford, as well as seven-block efforts in victories over North Carolina and Colgate. Jackson also averaged 1.75 kills per set and hit .262.
Jackson and VCU return to action on Friday, Sept. 27 when they host La Salle in their A-10 opener at the Siegel Center at 6 p.m.
