Porter Named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American

RICHMOND, Va. – To say that sophomore Kiara Porter (pictured, right) has had an impressive spring semester would be an understatement. Porter added to her list of accomplishments when she was named an Academic All-American by the USTFCCCA, announced on Thursday.

The Yorktown, Va. native had a record-breaking season the track,  earning Honorable Mention All-America honors, as she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter in June. Porter was the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Performer after taking home gold in the 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay in May.

Porter became the first-ever USA Track and Field Championship when she ran a school record 52.33 seconds in the 400-meter at the NCAA East Regionals.

In the classroom Porter was equally as impressive. In her two-year VCU career she has been named to the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor All-Academic Team as well as a USTFCCCA Academic All-American honors as well.
