Reynaldo Valdez

Reynaldo Valdez joined the VCU sports medicine department in the summer of 2018. Rey's main responsibilities include providing healthcare to the volleyball and men's tennis programs while he also serving as the insurance coordinator for the VCU athletics department. Previously, he served as an Athletic Training Fellow at the University of Michigan for the track & field and cross-country teams during the 2017-18 school year.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Rey graduated from Boise State University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. As an undergraduate, Rey also served as an Athletic Training Intern for the Seattle Seahawks during the 2014 season and was a recipient of the NFL Minority Scholarship.

Rey received a Masters of Education in Sports Administration from Bowling Green State University in 2018 while serving as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer for the volleyball and women’s track & field teams. Rey is a board-certified athletic trainer and licensed health care provider in the state of Virginia.

In his free time, Rey enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole, and dog, Theo, exploring Richmond, Virginia.
