Daniel Johnson

Daniel K. Johnson is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach for Virginia Commonwealth
University, working with the hurdles, vertical jumps, and multis. Johnson previously spent time
at Mililani High School on the island of Oahu before arriving in Richmond.

From 2012 to 2014, Johnson served as an assistant high school track coach at Mililani high
school before transitioning to head boys coach, from 2014 to 2016. While at Mililani, Johnson
had numerous state qualifiers and medalist including, coaching state champions in the high jump
and pole vault, as well as a state runner up in the 110 hurdles.

While coaching a Mililani, Johnson also served as a Captain in the United States Army and was
stationed at Schofield Barracks.

Prior to his coaching experience, Johnson competed as a decathlete at East Stroudsburg
University. He was a consistent conference point scorer and champion in the heptathlon and
decathlon. Johnson was an All-American placing 8th in the division II decathlon in 2012. He is
currently the school record holder at East Stroudsburg in both the heptathlon and decathlon.

A native of York, Pennsylvania, Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in
Political Science. Johnson resides in Richmond, VA.
