Michael McCaughtry

Michael McCaughtry joined the VCU Sports Performance staff as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach, working with Men's and Women's Soccer, in August 2019. He currently designs and implements training programs for VCU's Baseball and Women's Soccer programs, as well as coordinates the Sports Performance Graduate Assistant Mentorship Program. Prior to his current role, McCaughtry spent one year as a Graduate Assistant for VCU Sports Performance, from 2018-2019, designing and implementing training programs for VCU's Men's and Women's Track and Field (sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, multis, and throwers), Men’s and Women’s Tennis, as well as Men's Golf. Additionally, he worked as an intern with VCU Sports Performance from 2017-2018, assisting VCU’s Volleyball, Baseball, and Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs.

Prior to VCU, McCaughtry completed an internship with The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, assisting the Strength and Conditioning staff with Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's Soccer, Softball, and Men's Tennis.

McCaughtry earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Fitness from East Carolina University and holds a Master's Degree in Sport Leadership from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership.

McCaughtry currently holds a CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
