RICHMOND, Va. – Age is a very deceptive thing.

The newest member of the VCU women’s soccer coaching staffis a testament to that as his young age of 26 doesn’t give aglimpse of just how much experience Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak andTim Sahaydak have brought to the Rams with the addition of MattCarr.

“We are very happy to have Matt a part of the program.Matt is a young and eager coach with experience beyond hisyears,” Roberts Sahaydak said. “Matt's influenceextends far beyond his soccer and recruiting backgrounds. Hisenthusiasm and appreciation are off the charts and his positivityand optimism brings great energy to the team and staff. There's nodoubt our program is strengthened by his contributions.”

After playing both collegiately and professionally in goal, Carrwill mentor a young, but talented group of goalkeepers this fallfor the Rams.

“I am honored that Tiffany and Tim have given me theopportunity to join their staff,” Carr said. “I amreally looking forward to coaching along side two former worldclass players as well as the challenges that lie ahead with theposition and the program. As coaches we are constantly learning allthe time. I hope to continue to develop and grow as a coach here atVCU.”

Carr is coming off a busy 2010 season where he went time on thecoaching staff of the Atlanta Beat in the WPS, as well as avolunteer goalkeeper coach at Kennesaw State.

The amazing thing is that 2009 was even crazier for the Georgianative. He headed over to Iceland to play professionally forKnattspyrna Alftanes. While over there, he worked as an assistantcoach for the KR Reykjavik women’s club and the Alftanes Promen’s club. During his time in Iceland, he coached severalgoalkeepers of the Icelandic Women’s National team.

His 2009 wrapped up with an assistant coaching position in thefall at The University of Bridgeport (Conn.), where he guided thePurple Knights to a conference title and saw Emelie Karstromreceive East Coast Conference Tournament MVP honors for heroutstanding goalkeeping.
