Thomas Lené was hired as VCU Women’s Basketball program’s Director of Sports Performance in July 2021. Lené came to VCU from Drake where he served as women’s basketball program’s associate strength coach since July of 2019.
Prior to his work with the Bulldogs, Lené worked at Baylor where he served as the interim director of performance for the national champion Bears’ women’s basketball program for the 2019-20 season after previously being the program’s assistant strength coach.
Lené is responsible for all the strength and conditioning aspects for the VCU women's basketball program including individualized coaching and program creation. He will also assist in recovery methods, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.
Lené, a native of Waco, Texas, and earned both his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a master’s degree in sport pedagogy from Baylor.
