Seven-year coaching veteran Tamisha Augustinenters her first season as an assistant coach at VCU after spendingthe 2012-13 campaign at Marshall University.
"I am extremely excited about bringing Coach Tamisha to ourprogram," said VCU Head Coach Marlene Stollings. "She is a proven recruiter who is known for attracting toptalent in our region. Coach Tamisha's interpersonal skills andpersonality will be key assets in recruiting, developing our youngRams and being a positive force for VCU. She is anoutstanding addition to our Ram family."
Augustin has shown her knack for building relationships on therecruiting trail throughout her career, signing a Top 100 recruitduring just one season at Marshall. Prior to joining theThundering Herd, she spent two years as an assistant at Mid-EasternAthletic Conference member South Carolina State from 2010-12, whereshe helped tutor a pair of all-conference selections in WhitneyWiley (2011 Second Team All-MEAC) and Cabriel Duren (2012 MEACAll-Rookie), while also signing a JUCO All-American in BrittanyCochran.
Augustin has made several successful stops in the AAU and highschool coaching circuit as well. Most recently, she returnedto her hometown of Hampton, Va., as the varsity girls’basketball coach at Bethel High School where she guided the Bruinsto a 15-win season in 2008-09.
From 2006-08, Augustin served as head coach for the GeorgiaMetro Nike Travel Team, while also coaching boys’ teams atHenry County (Ga.) High School in 2007-08 and at Love Joy (Ga.)High School from 2006-07. During her time as an AAU coach,she developed 12 athletes that went on to play Division Ibasketball.

Following her four-year playing career at Alabama A&M,Augustin gained valuable international experience when she becamethe first American to play for professional club KSC-Szekszard(Hungary) during the 2008-09 season before an injury halted herplaying career.
As a shooting guard at Alabama A&M from 2002-06, Augustinwas a two-time All-SWAC selection and a four-year teamcaptain. She averaged a team-best 10.1 points per game to goalong with 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists as a freshman en route toearning all-conference accolades. Following an injury-plaguedsophomore campaign, Augustin quickly recovered, averaging 8.5points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists during her final twocollegiate seasons.
She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from A&Min 2005 and went on to earn her master’s in microbiology in2007.
Augustin continued her education in 2010, receiving amaster’s in education from Regent University in VirginiaBeach, Va. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree inleadership.
