Ian Proctor has served as Director of Sports Performance for VCU’s Women’s Basketball program since May of 2025, and is responsible for the design, periodization and implementation of a year-round strength and conditioning program tailored to the individual needs of each student-athlete.
Previously, Proctor spent two seasons (2023-25) as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant for the Rams, where he assisted all weight room lifts, as well as pre-practice and pre-game warm-up programs, and collected and organized Kinexon data to track student-athletes’ speed, mileage and training load, as well as other duties.
Proctor also worked as a part-time strength and conditioning coach with the women’s basketball program at nearby Randolph-Macon College during the 2024-25 season.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2022. Proctor is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and also owns CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Proctor completed his master’s degree in Sport Leadership through VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership in May of 2025.
