Candice M. Jackson joined VCU Women's Basketball as an assistant coach in April of 2023.
Jackson boasts more 18 years of Division I experience with assistant coaching stops at Duke, Wake Forest, Buffalo and Richmond. Jackson most recently served the past two seasons as the Director of Recruiting at Michigan State, her alma mater.
Jackson spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Duke where she helped lead the Blue Devils to back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 2012 and 2013. Jackson also spearheaded the second ranked recruiting class in 2013. Jackson spent five seasons as a head coach at the College of Charleston after Duke and prior to joining Michigan State.
During her career, Jackson has worked with 12 McDonald’s High School All-Americans, two WNBA First Round draft picks, two USBWA All-Americans, three Associated Press All-Americans and 15 ACC All-Academic Team selections.
Prior to Duke, Jackson spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest. There, she aided in the signing of the program’s first Top 100 signee and mentored two All-ACC selections. Jackson also helped lead the Demon Deacons to an 18-14 overall record and WNIT appearance in 2009-10.
Jackson spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Richmond prior to Wake Forest where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 2005-06 to a 24-10 record and WNIT berth in 2008-09.
Jackson was a four-year letterwinner at Michigan State from 2000-04. Jackson served as team captain during her junior and senior years and led the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003 and 2004. She then served as a graduate assistant coach for the 2004-05 squad that advanced to the NCAA National Championship Game prior to joining the staff at Richmond.
Originally from Lansing, Mich., Jackson was a three-time MVP at Lansing Everett High School, and guided her team to the state title game as a senior.
