Aseem Rastogi, who was recently elevated to therole of Interim Director of Women's BasketballOperations, came to VCU in 2012-13 as the program's directorof player personnel. Since joining the Rams, hisresponsibilities have included oversight of community, alumni anduniversity relations, coordination of team managers, assisting withthe program's male scout team, database oversight and campcoordination.
"Aseem brings a wide range of skills to our program with apassion and excitement that will be contagious," VCU Head CoachMarlene Stollings said. "He is anintellectual with a diverse background who will complement ourstaff in many capacities. Aseem is a strong student of the gamewith a visible eagerness to learn and grow. His future in athleticsis limitless."
Rastogi joins VCU after a two-year stint as an AthleticsDiversity Council Graduate Assistant at the University of Oklahoma,where he served in multiple capacities. At Oklahoma hecombined his athletic business and student development acumen,working in Compliance, Event Management, Ticketing,Marketing/Community Outreach, Development, and AthleticsAcademics. In addition, he coordinated Diversity andInclusion programming for the Department of IntercollegiateAthletics.
The Fairfax, Va., native received his Master's of Education inAdult and Higher Education with an emphasis in IntercollegiateAthletic Administration from Oklahoma in May 2012. Whilecompleting his degree, Rastogi coached Boys Basketball at NormanNorth High School, both as a freshman assistant and head coach, aswell as a varsity assistant. In addition, he co-foundedLeadership Education for Athletics Professionals (LEAP), a graduatestudent organization focused on personal and professionaldevelopment for those seeking careers in athletics.
"Coach Stollings is a fearless leader with a high level ofclarity and attention to detail," added Rastogi. This, alongwith her aggressive offensive basketball style, knowledge of thegame and relentless work ethic, made it a no-brainer to want towork with her. She is a visionary in this game and I canthink of no better place to be than with her as a member of herstaff as she leads the way to many A-10 championships and NCAATournaments."
Rastogi completed his B.S. in Sport Management with a minor inmarketing at Old Dominion University in May 2010. As anundergraduate, he served in many roles, including team manager forthe women's basketball team, Program Assistant for Monarch Maniacs,Athletic Programming and Spirit/Pride/Tradition activities oncampus. Rastogi also served students as a PREVIEW/orientationcounselor, Freshman Summer Institute leader, and on variousuniversity committees. While serving as a team manager, Aseemorganized the Mini Monarchs' Kids Club Youth Outreach Program andall social media for the women's basketball program.
Outside of his studies at Old Dominion, Rastogi was selected asone of 30 participants in the USOC's Finding Leaders AmongMinorities Everywhere (F.L.A.M.E.) Program in August 2009. Healso completed an internship from 2009-10 with The As OneFoundation, founded by NFL star Devard Darling, whose mission is tobring American football and sports education to his native countryof the Bahamas.
Rastogi graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, Va.,in 2006, where he served as president of one of the largest DECAChapters in the country, sending over 27 competitors tointernational competition in 2005-06. He competed in Sportsand Entertainment Marketing and Financial Analysis on the State andInternational levels.
