REED, ROBINSON AND HAMMOND NAMED TO A-10 PRESEASON TEAMS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – VCU's Tera Reed, Taya Robinson and Danielle Hammond have been named Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Conference as announced by the league office Thursday.

Reed was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team while Robinson and Hammond were named to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason Second Team. In addition, Robinson and Hammond were also selected for the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Defensive Team.

Reed has led the Rams in scoring each of her two seasons at VCU. She averaged 12.5 points per game last season along with 4.0 rebounds on her way to earning All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors. Reed shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent from 3-point range for the Rams.

Robinson was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team last season along with the All-Atlantic 10 Defensive team. Robinson averaged 9.9 points and a team-high 4.5 rebounds per game in 2018-19.

Hammond joined Robinson on the Third Team last season after leading the A-10 in field goal percentage at 59.1 percent during the regular season and ranked second on the team in scoring during conference play at 10.8 points per game. Hammond also ranked fifth in the A-10 in blocks with 42.

Robinson and Hammond earned the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Defensive Team nod after both served as key cogs in VCU's nationally ranked defense. VCU ranked second nationally in field goal percentage defense (33.2-percent), fifth in scoring defense (52.0 points per game) and sixth in 3-point field goal percentage defense (26.2 percent).

The Rams begin their 2019-20 season at home on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. against Appalachian State.
