RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball head coach Beth O'Boyle has been selected to present at the 10th International Basketball Coaches Clinic held by ACS Athens in Athens, Greece.
O'Boyle will be one of four keynote speakers at the event alongside former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach and current Olympiacos head coach David Blatt. Joining O'Boyle and Blatt is former Miami Heat shooting coach and Seattle Storm assistant coach Rob Fodor. Argyris Pedoulakis, a long-time professional coach in the Greek League, is also slated to speak.
"The game of basketball has become an increasingly global game. I love the way it brings all different kinds of people together from all over the world. Our team at VCU is a great example with players from different countries and backgrounds all coming together to win a championship and learn from each other. I'm looking forward to spending quality time in Greece with such a diverse group of coaches from all over the world. It's an incredible way to grow and become a better coach," O'Boyle said.
The Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, O'Boyle will speak on both offensive and defensive topics. The Rams finished in the top six in the NCAA in scoring defense, field goal percentage defense and 3-point defense.
VCU went 24-10 on the season, earning the program's first regular season Atlantic 10 Co-Championship before reaching the A-10 Championship game. VCU earned a WNIT bid and advanced to the second round.
Former VCU student-athlete and current professional basketball player Jessica Ogunnorin is from Athens, Greece and played for ACS Athens before coming to the United States to play Division I basketball. Ogunnorin played in 32 games as a redshirt senior for VCU with 27 starts. She averaged 5.7 points and 7.0 rebounds, helping VCU to a 23-10 overall record and a WNIT berth.
