RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Men's Tennis team will head to Winston-Salem, N.C. and face Kentucky in the 2019 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament First Round. The match will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
The Rams enter the tournament after winning their third consecutive Atlantic 10 Men's Championship on April 28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. VCU swept the University of Richmond 4-0 to win the A-10 Championship. The Rams also swept Duquesne 4-0 in the quarterfinals and beat Dayton 4-3 in the semifinals.
VCU is making its 23rd all-time appearance in the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament. The Rams will meet Kentucky for just the second time in program history. The first meeting came on Feb. 27, 1999 as VCU prevailed in a 4-2 win at a neutral site. Kentucky is 15-14 overall on the season while the Rams carry a 16-9 overall record.
Morgan State and No. 4 overall seed Wake Forest is the other matchup on VCU's portion of the bracket.
