Shimazaki, a native of Kawasaki, Japan, also earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors. The defender played and started in all 17 matches for VCU and anchored a defense that posted five shutouts and allowed a mere 22 goals on the season. Not only was Shimazaki solid on the defensive end, but he also produced on the offensive side of the pitch. He scored four goals on the season, the second most on the squad while also adding an assist. Shimazaki also earned an A-10 Player of the Week nod this season.
A native of Lumbumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Biyombo was also awarded a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team. Biyombo had a breakout season for the Rams, leading the team with 14 points. He netted a team-high five goals, two of them game-winners. In addition to his goals, Biyombo also dished out four assists on the season. He finished the regular season ranked top-10 in the Atlantic-10 in goals, game-winning goals and points.
