RICHMOND, Va. – After garnering a national seed and a first round bye in the NCAA Tournament, the VCU Men's Soccer team finished ranked No. 25 in the final 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Poll.
The Rams spent five weeks ranked in the NSCAA Top 25 this season, including the final four polls. The Black and Gold was ranked as high as No. 19 for three consecutive weeks.
VCU finishes the season ranked by the NSCAA for the first time since 2004. That year, VCU received a No. 22 ranking after a run to the Elite Eight in the College Cup.
The Rams won 12 matches this season, their most since 2007. VCU advanced to the Atlantic 10 title game after a pair of 1-0 victories over Temple and nationally-ranked Charlotte. The Rams defeated three ranked opponents in 2012, outscoring them 9-2.
