RICHMOND, Va. – The awards continue to roll in for VCU freshman defender Juan Monge Solano as he was recently named to the 2011 Soccer America All-Freshman second team.

The newest accolade brings his postseason honors total to five, as he was previously named to the All-CAA first team, All-CAA rookie team, College Soccer News All-Freshman second team and NSCAA Division I All-South Atlantic Region second team.  

The San Jose, Costa Rica, native served as a force on both sides of the pitch for the Rams in 2011.

Defensively, VCU finished the season with a 1.17 goals-against average, which was fourth best among the 12 CAA institutions. Additionally, the Black & Gold notched six shutouts on the season.

Offensively, Monge Solano finished third on the team with 11 points on five goals and one assist.

Monge Solano was the only representative from the CAA to be named to the 2011 Soccer America All-Freshman teams.
