RICHMOND, Va. – 10 days. That is the amount time the VCU Men's Soccer team has to prepare for its first match against Navy on August 26th at Sports Backers.

The team began its preseason training earlier this week, with fitness tests and a number of meetings on Tuesday, before the first official day of practice on Wednesday.

"The first few sessions have been going well," said Head Coach Dave Giffard. "There is realistic competition for every position on the field and that has brought the level of intensity in training closer to the level required. Having a longer preseason this year will fit this group very well as we have a lot of things to get sorted out."

The Rams are looking to build off a season in which they garnered a second-place regular season in the Colonial Athletic Association and earned a spot in the CAA conference tournament for the first time since 2007.

VCU returns seven starters from last year's squad, including All-CAA third team performer Jason Johnson and All-CAA Rookie Team member Romena Bowie.
