WHILE AT VCU:
· After averaging 2.9 points over his first two seasons,Nixon exploded onto the scene in 2009-10, chipping in a career-high8.1 points per game. He tallied more points, assists, rebounds,field-goals, three-pointers and steals than he did combined overhis first two years at VCU.
· Known as one of the bestperimeter defenders in the CAA, earning multiple All-CAA Defensiveteam votes in 2009-10
· Most notable defensive performance cameagainst high-scoring guard Joe Dukes, who hit his first five shotsagainst the Rams on Jan.
30th, then Nixon came in the game and Dukes finished 6-of-20.
· Has used each offseason to improve in every statisticalcategory, improving dramatically between freshman and sophomoreyear and even more dramatically between sophomore and juniorseasons
· Set career-highs on three differentoccassions in 2009-10 with 17 points against Nevada (11/27), then18 points at William & Mary (12/5) and finally 19 pointsat UNC Wilmington (1/2)
·Most improved scoring stat for Nixon in 2009-10 was his three-pointshooting, jumping from 29.4% in 2008-09 to 43.2% in 2009-10. His 41three-pointers were more than triple the combined total of hisfirst two years
PRIOR TO VCU:
· Nixon’s senior year at Lakewood was amemorable one, earning County Player of the Year honors along withFirst Team All-State accolades and a nomination for Florida’sMr. Basketball.
· The box scores ofLakewood High School started and ended with Nixon, who led the teamin scoring and rebounding for his final three seasons.
· Nixon was a near lock from the charitystripe, leading the county all four years.
· Nixon’s AAU squad,the Jacksonville Bulls, were synonymous with championships andcaptured the Florida State AAU championship in back-to-backseasons.
· During his senior year,he fell victim to current VCU teammate Joey Rodriguez and the LakeHowell H.S. squad in the Florida 5-A State Championship game.
