Lexi Mallory joined the VCU Basketball program as assistant director of operations in July of 2021.
Mallory, a native of Charlottesville, Va., is a former student-athlete and a graduate of Randolph-Macon, as well as VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership.
A John McLendon Minority Future Leader, Mallory joined the Rams following an internship at Harvard, where she worked closely with several areas within the Athletics Department. In addition, Mallory also served as a team ambassador at the 2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. Inside “the bubble”, Mallory was a liaison for six teams and coordinated daily itineraries, escorted teams to group functions and ensured travel parties adhered to NCAA and Marion County health and safety protocols.
Mallory worked as a graduate assistant in the VCU Athletics Compliance Office during the 2019-20 academic year, assisting in various facets of the day-to-day operations, including reviewing CARA logs, approving recruiting visits, assisting with waiver interpretations, NCAA rules education, reviewing of team travel expenses and reviewing NCAA eligibility for prospective student-athletes.
Mallory also served as an intern for the Virginia Men’s Basketball program in 2018, and she assisted the Randolph-Macon Athletics Operations department from 2017-19.
“The VCU Men’s Basketball Program is getting a tremendous talent in Lexi Mallory. I’ve been fortunate to know Lexi and her family since we first moved to Charlottesville over 10 years ago. Lexi has also been a tremendous support to our summer camp at UVA in recent years. Lexi’s passion for sports has been evident throughout her high school and collegiate playing career. I have no doubt that she will bring the same enthusiasm, energy and work ethic to her new position with the Rams,” said Virginia Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tony Bennett.
Mallory was a team captain and four-year standout for the Randolph-Macon women’s soccer team from 2015-19, earning a pair of All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference nods, as well as an All-Academic Team citation. Mallory has since been named to RMC’s All-Decade and All-Time teams. She also played one season with the women’s basketball program.
She received her undergraduate degree in Communications from Randolph-Macon in January of 2019 and her Masters of Sport Leadership from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership in 2020.
