After two successful years as a graduate assistant for VCU, Lamont Moore was named director of student-athlete development in August of 2019.

A 2019 graduate of VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership program, Moore will work to develop VCU’s players off the court and will oversee the Rams’ community service efforts.

Before accepting the role of student-athlete development, Moore was a graduate assistant under VCU Head Coach Mike Rhoades from 2017-19. He was formerly the head coach of the JV boys basketball team at James River High School.

Moore was previously a four-year basketball standout Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. He averaged 15.9 points per game as a senior in 2015-16 and was named All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) First Team for his efforts. He scored nearly 900 points and grabbed more than 450 rebounds during his four-year career. Moore also earned ODAC All-Academic honors and received his undergraduate degree from RMC in Economics and Business in 2016.

A Waverly, Va. native, Moore helped lead Tidewater Academy to a 2010 VIS Basketball State Championship title. As a senior in 2011-12, Moore was named to the VISAA All-State First Team.
