Jamill Jones

Following a two-year stint at Florida Gulf Coast, Jones joins coach Wade on the Rams' sidelines.

"Jamill is one of those guys I've kept my eye on a lot in recent years. Our relationship has really developed recently and I've taken note of him being a tenacious recruiter, great with relationships and will outwork anyone," Wade said. "As we've gotten to know each other, we'll text at all hours of the night and that's my type of guy. He'll be a tremendous asset for us in recruiting, especially in the Mid-Atlantic area. He's been around a lot of high level players who have had great success in the pro ranks and he'll bring a lot of that knowledge and experience to our players here at VCU."

Jones played a vital role in guiding FGCU to its third straight postseason tournament last season, and back-to-back seasons of 22 wins, which is the second-most in FGCU's Division I era. During his first season with the Eagles (2013-14), the program won its first Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship and earned a trip to the NIT.

He coached four all-conference picks, including two-time First Team honoree Brett Comer, along with Christian Terrell who landed on the ASun All-Freshman Team this past season.

Prior to his stint in Fort Meyers, Fla., Jones spent five seasons as an assistant coach with Nike Team Takeover out of Washington, D.C. During his tenure, he worked with more than 70 Division I scholarship players, and helped guide the team to the EYBL Championship under head coach Keith Stevens in 2010.

A 2008 graduate of Arkansas Tech, Jones played one season at North Platte Community College where he is one of 50 players in the program's history to be named to the Athletic Department's Hall of Fame.
