Ahmad Thomas

A Danville, Va. native, Ahmad Thomas joined Ryan Odom's staff at VCU in June of 2023 as Coordinator of Player Development.

Thomas spent the 2022-23 season at UNC Greensboro, where he served as Director of Recruiting and Development in his first foray on a collegiate staff. His efforts helped the Spartans to a 20-12 mark, including a 14-4 conference record. Previously, Ahmad was Associate Head Coach of Team Loaded North Carolina, a premier grassroots basketball program. While working for Team Loaded NC, his primary responsibilities included coaching, recruiting, player development, organization and travel logistics.

Thomas was a four-year standout for UNC Asheville, where he finished his career as the only player in Big South men's basketball history with over 1,500 points (1,626), 700 rebounds (705), 250 steals (251) and 250 assists (256). Thomas still ranks as the all-time leader in steals for the Bulldogs. He was the two-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year and two-time First Team All-Big South performer.

After his time as a Bulldog, Thomas played three years of professional basketball overseas in Luxemburg, England, Finland, and Canada before returning to North Carolina to begin working with Team Loaded NC.
