  • VCU enters the 2019-20 with high expectations. The Rams are currently listed 26th in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA Today/Coaches Poll. VCU, which returns four starters and eight of its top nine scorers from last season, was selected first in the Atlantic 10 Conference's Preseason Poll by league coaches and media. The Rams return 88.9 percent of their scoring from last year's 25-8 team that won the A-10 regular season crown and reached the NCAA Tournament

  • Last time out: VCU received a pair of late 3-pointers by senior Mike'L Simms and held off North Texas on Nov. 8 at the Siegel Center. Seniors Marcus Evans and De'Riante Jenkins provided 13 and 12 points, respectively

  • Tonight's game marks the return of LSU Coach Will Wade to the Siegel Center. Wade served as VCU head coach for two seasons (2015-17) and led the Rams to a 51-20 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances. He and current VCU Head Coach Mike Rhoades were assistsants with the Rams from 2009-13 under Shaka Smart

  • Tonight marks the seventh time VCU has hosted a ranked opponent at the Siegel Center. The Rams are 4-2 in the previous six instances

  • VCU is expecting a sellout crowd tonight, which would extend the Rams' sellout streak to 137 games

  • VCU has won 13 consecutive home games dating back to last season

  • No program has won more games in A-10 play than VCU since the Rams joined the league for the 2012-13 campaign. VCU is 89-33 in conference play over that span, a .730 winning percentage. VCU is also 13-6 in A-10 Tournament play

  • VCU tied program records for regular season victories (25) and conference wins (16) in 2018-19

  • VCU's success last season was driven heavily by its nationally ranked defense. The Rams ranked seventh nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency (89.5), third in effective field goal defense (.435), second in 3-point field goal defense (.285) and eighth in turnover percentage (23.5)
