RICHMOND, Va. - Senior guard JeQuan Lewis was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for his efforts on the court this past week. He shares the award with Davidson's Jack Gibbs.
Lewis was a key factor for the Black and Gold in their two wins, in which he averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds. Lewis was 11-of-20 from 3-point range and 11-of-13 from the free throw line in those two victories.
In the 91-81 home win against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 14, he scored a career-high 34 points and connected on nine 3-point field goals.
The Dickson, Tennessee native also helped lift the Rams over cross-town rival Richmond on the road. He scored 16 points, dished out five assists, and hauled in seven rebounds in the Rams 84-73 victory.
Lewis is averaging a team-high 15.6 points and 4.5 assists per game this season, while shooting .414 (75-of-181) from beyond the 3-point arc.
The Rams are now 22-5 overall and are currently in sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 12-2 record. VCU has won eight consecutive games and 16 of its last 18.
VCU will host Saint Louis on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
