RICHMOND, Va. – VCU senior guard JeQuan Lewis was named Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for his shooting prowess in games against George Washington and Davidson last week.

In a nail-biter at George Washington on Wednesday, Feb. 8, Lewis drew a foul with 0.4 seconds left and knocked down two free throws to secure the second straight close win for the Rams.  Lewis also came up with two steals.

On the feeling of closing such a game out, Lewis said, "It was big time. I was ready to step to the line the second time and missing wasn't on my mind.  I felt confident in making both and my teammates had confidence in me making both."

On Saturday, Feb. 11, Lewis knocked down a season-high 27 points to lead the Rams to a 74-60 victory over the Davidson Wildcats.  Lewis shot 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and dished out three assists.

Lewis was happy to come out on top this time around against the Wildcats.

"I had a personal grudge. We lost to them at their place. The second time around, I wanted to do everything I could do to prevent us from losing. I did everything I could for my team."

Lewis leads VCU into battle tonight with the hope of securing its seventh straight win against Saint Joseph's at E.J. Wade Arena at 6 p.m.
