RICHMOND, Va. – VCU will meet Big 12 stalwart and 2016 NCAA Tournament qualifier Baylor in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas, tournament organizers announced Wednesday. That contest will be televised by ESPN2.

VCU will take on either Michigan State or St. John's in the tournament's second round. In all, the Rams will play three games during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend Nov. 23-25 against a field that also includes Louisville, Michigan State, Wichita State, LSU, St. John's and Old Dominion.
Created in 2011, the Battle 4 Atlantis has quickly become one of the premier exempt tournaments in college basketball. This will be VCU's second visit to Atlantis' Imperial Arena. The Rams topped 19th-ranked Memphis before falling to 13th-ranked Missouri and fifth-ranked Duke in the 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis. Syracuse defeated Texas A&M to win last year's Battle 4 Atlantis title.
The Rams are entering their second year under Head Coach Will Wade. VCU was 25-11 in 2015-16 and made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament trip, where the Rams defeated Oregon State in the first round.
Baylor was 22-12 a year ago and fell to Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
VCU is 2-1 all-time against Baylor. The Rams and Bears last met during the 1998-99 season, a contest won 81-61 by VCU in Honolulu, Hawaii.
