The 2010 VCU Shootout, presented by Verizon Wireless, brings
some of the very best collegiate golfers in the nation to Central
Virginia for 54 holes of exciting competition.
One of the highlights of the VCU Shootout is the College-Am,
presented by Cleveland Golf. It will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26 at
Hermitage Country Club on their challenging Manakin Course. The
College-Am will pair a team of three "amateurs" with an outstanding
player from one of the teams in this year's Shootout.
The College-Am includes lunch, range balls, tee gifts, golf
and a post-round awards banquet, as well as an opportunity to
compete alongside some of college golf's best and brightest stars.
Registration, lunch and the range open at 11:30 a.m., and we will
tee off at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. A cocktail reception,
dinner and our awards program will begin immediately after the
round.
There are a number of packages, as well as sponsorship options
, available for groups and individuals. Download the brochure to
reserve your spot! Proceeds from the College Am will benefit VCU
Golf.
"The VCU Shootout is really the core of VCU Golf," said Rams'
Head Coach Matt Ball. "The College Am enables us to run almost a
tour event for college players, which makes it an exceptional
event. It's better than most college tournaments are. It keeps the
teams and kids coming back and many of these schools have another
similar event I can reciprocate with, and that's how we have built
one of the top 50 or 60 schedules in the country. So, we're always
playing against top 20 and top 30 schools every week that we
compete."
The field for this year's VCU Shootout includes Charlotte,
Richmond, East Carolina, Iowa State, James Madison, UNC Greensboro,
UNC Wilmington, Liberty, VCU, Virginia Tech, Mercer, Wake Forest,
Old Dominion and Wichita State. Six teams in the field qualified
for the NCAA Tournament in 2010.
