Shannon Pereira joined the VCU Field Hockey staff as an assistant coach in July 2022.
Pereira, a 2019 graduate of VCU who has also played for Canada’s senior and junior national teams, spent the last year as a graduate assistant at DeSales Univeristy, a Division III school located in Center Valley, Pa.
Pereira was an All-Atlantic 10 First Team selection for the Rams in 2018 as well as an NFHCA All-South Region Second Team Choice. She scored seven goals and recorded five assists during that season. Prior to playing at VCU, Pereira played for St. Francis under Stacey Bean where she earned All-Atlantic 10 honors in each of her three seasons with the Red Flash.
Pereira has also spent time coaching club teams in the U.S. in High Styx and Focus Field Hockey as well as at H.B.S. Caeyenhout in the Netherlands while she played on the senior team in 2020.
Pereira graduated from VCU with a Master of Sport Leadership and holds her USA Field Hockey Level II Coaching certification. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from St. Francis University in 2017 with a degree in healthcare studies.
