RICHMOND, Va. – On the heels of a breakout 2019 campaign, VCU right hander Evan Chenier was named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-America Team Wednesday.

A go-to reliever out of the bullpen, Chenier posted a perfect 6-0 record and crafted a 3.56 ERA in 19 appearances for the Rams this spring. He struck out 28 and walked just 12 in 43 innings of work.

Chenier, a native of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, was also named Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team for his efforts this season. Chenier's best performances of the season came in an 11-2 win over VMI and a 5-2 win over UMass. Each of the two outings saw Chenier strike out four batters in just three innings of work.

Led by seventh-year Head Coach Shawn Stiffler. Chenier and VCU compiled a 39-19 overall record last season, on their way to winning an Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship.
