RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Baseball standout Zac Ching was honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference on Monday when they announced him as their Player of the Week. Ching earned the distinction after leading the Rams to a 4-0 record, including a weekend sweep of A-10 foe La Salle.

Ching's Sunday performance was the most impressive, as he batted for the cycle in just five innings played. His strong performance on the field helped power VCU's dominant 28-4 victory over La Salle to close out a weekend sweep. 

He opened the week by posting one hit, one run scored while driving in two more runs in a 12-6 win over Longwood. His stellar play didn't end there, as he went on to provide two hits in four at-bats, one run scored and two more RBIs in a 11-2 victory against La Salle. Ching followed that up with a two hit and one run scored day to help VCU take Game Two of their weekend series with La Salle 9-6 before completing the sweep on Sunday.

Ching finished the weekend posting nine total hits in 16 at-bats for a batting average of .562, and added a total of eight runs scored. He drove in seven runs overall and homered for the fifth time this season. This marks the first time Ching has won this award this season.

VCU currently sit at 25-7 overall, including an 8-1 mark in conference play. The Rams are on a six game winning streak which ranks third in nation, while their mark of 25 wins ranks fifth.

VCU will be back in action tomorrow, April 9, when they take on in-state rival ODU at 6 p.m. in Norfolk, Va.
