RICHMOND – Freshman Hogan Brown has been selected as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performance versus Longwood and Davidson. The announcement was made by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The award is Brown’s second selection of the season.
Brown became the catalyst for a high-powered VCU offense this past week. In 22 total at-bats, Brown reached base 17 times, notching 12 hits and five walks. During the weekend's series at Davidson, Brown reached base in 10 consecutive at-bats, led by a 3-for-3 game with three walks in Saturday's 14-1 trouncing of the Wildcats. Brown finished with a .706 batting average for the week with an on-base percentage of .776. He also scored 10 total runs, leading the team in the category for the week and takes over second on the team for the season behind Haiden Lamb. He also added an RBI and stolen base to the strong performance.
Fordham’s Justin Bardwell was named A-10 Player of the Week, while Saint Louis’ Miller Hogan earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
VCU travels to Virginia on Tuesday before hosting cross-town rival Richmond for a three-game series starting Friday at The Diamond.
