Andrew Cox

VCU Baseball Head Coach Bradley LeCroy announced the hiring of Andrew Cox as assistant coach in August of 2022.

The 2022 season was Cox's first on the VCU staff and he oversaw the hitting and in fielding during the season. The Rams finished 31st in the country in fielding percentage (.978) and with Cox's help Brandon Eike (3B) earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. Eike finished ranked in the nation fourth in doubles, 15th in doubles per game and fourth in sacrifice files and as a team the Rams finished 62nd in the country in walks drawn.

Cox joins LeCroy's staff following two seasons at Western Carolina. He helped the Catamounts to a 28-win campaign in 2021 and saw six players take home All-Southern Conference honors during his tenure. Prior to WCU, Cox spent two years at Furman, first as volunteer assistant, and later as director of operations.

A native of South Carolina, Cox appeared in 186 games as a student-athlete from 2012-17 at Clemson, where he played for LeCroy, then an assistant for the Tigers. Cox hit .280 with six homers and 35 RBIs as a senior in 2017 and was named Third Team All-ACC for his efforts. He was also the recipient of the 2017 Tiger Baseball Award, which is given annually to the player voted the team's top leader.
