Since 1998, VCU has posted an average of nearly 35 wins per year. The Black & Gold are one of only eight programs in the country to win 34 or more games in every full season since 2014. Over 50 players have been drafted or signed Major League Baseball contracts, four of which were selected in the first two rounds.

After joining the league in 2013, the Rams earned their first Atlantic 10 Championship in 2015, advancing to the Super Regionals for the first time in program history after winning the Dallas Regional. VCU returned to NCAA Regionals in 2021 after winning its second A-10 Championship, doing so with three straight victories at The Diamond, the first time VCU had hosted the A-10 Championship.

The Rams have posted 24 winning seasons over the past 27 years between head coaches Shawn Stiffler and the late Paul Keyes. The Rams have yet to have a losing season under Stiffler, as he has compiled a 298-178 record over his five seasons at VCU.
