ABOUT THE TEAM
Ask anyone of the more than 10,000+ people that leave the sold-out Siegel Center, after yet another Rams victory, about the best part of the game day experience and the "VCU Gold Rush Dance Team" is guaranteed to be one of the most popular answers.
The VCU Gold Rush Dance Team is an integral part of the game-day atmosphere at the Siegel Center, energizing fans and helping create one of the most exciting home-court environments in college basketball. Performing in front of thousands of Rams supporters throughout the season, Gold Rush serves as a visible ambassador for VCU Athletics both on and off the court.
Under the direction of Yvahn Karp and Christian Robb, and former Director Vicki Crietser the team has earned recognition as one of the premier collegiate dance programs on the East Coast. Through dynamic performances, school spirit, and community engagement, Gold Rush continues to elevate the fan experience at VCU basketball games and athletic events.
The VCU Gold Rush Dance Team consists of 16–22 talented student-athletes representing a wide range of dance and performance backgrounds. Team members bring experience in styles including ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, competitive dance, and cheerleading. Dancers commit to 2-3 weekly practices, attend all VCU men's basketball home games and select women's basketball games, and represent VCU Athletics at community appearances and special events throughout the year.
TRYOUT INFORMATION
Auditions for the 2026–2027 VCU Gold Rush Dance Team will be held August 29–30, 2026, in the Siegel Center Auxiliary Gym. All current and incoming VCU students, including undergraduate and graduate students, are eligible to audition. Participants are expected to attend both days of the tryout process.
A 5x7 printed headshot must be submitted on the first day of auditions. Please note that headshots will not be returned.

Hair should be worn down and styled for performance, and makeup should be applied to enhance stage presence and performance readiness.
