ABOUT THE TEAM
VCU Cheerleading is known for being a great "crowd team." The cheerleaders enjoy performing for the crowd and leading them in supporting our teams. We always get great responses from the Rams fans in helping cheer our teams to victory.
VCU CHEERLEADING 2024-2025
The new season is already upon us and with the VCU Cheer Competition Squad, Black Ops, having a successful return to competition, it is an exciting time to be a VCU Cheerleader.
-
The sideline squad will consist of 20+ athletes that will cheer for all men’s basketball games. The team is divided into smaller groups for the women's games in order to make the commitment more manageable and less of an academic strain on the student athlete. A select group will travel for A-10 and NCAA tournaments. Practice is 3 days a week, totaling 5-6 hours. There will be appearances throughout the season for various promotions or celebrations.
-
The competition squad “Black Ops” will comprise athletes from both sideline and competition only athletes. Squad size will be determined by talent availability (15 is optimum) They will understand that this is a personally funded endeavor and limited university resources will be available. Squad will be selected in the Fall. Practices will be part of the sideline as the season progresses.
