The short story: Junior outside hitter
Lara Del Core rang up 13 kills to lead a VCU offensive onslaught in a four-set win Friday at the Bob Carpenter Center.

OPENING VOLLEY
- Del Core led four Rams in double figure kills. She hit .385 on 26 swings and also provided two blocks
- Freshman outside hitter Molly McCall and senior middle blocker Nina Boledovicova supplied 12 kills each for the Black and Gold. Boledovicova hit .550 on 20 attempts and added three blocks
- Junior middle Letizia Galli chipped in with 11 kills and four blocks for VCU, while junior setter Cansin Sendir handed out 48 assists for an offense that was humming all night
- Anna Logan Gillens led the Blue Hens with 12 kills
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU was on the assault much of the night. The Rams hit a season-high .393 in the match, including .667 in the second set and .412 in the third
- While Delaware hit .214 overall, the Blue Hens managed just .140 in the final three frames combined
- The Rams also owned advantages in blocks (7-5), digs (38-31) and service aces (7-6) as VCU put together its most complete performance of the season
- VCU fell into a 1-0 hole in the match, but Del Core smacked five kills on seven swings as the Rams hit .667 on the second set on the way to a 25-18 win. VCU recorded just one hitting error in the frame. From there, it was all VCU the rest of the night

VCU will kick off Atlantic 10 Conference play Sept. 25-26 when the Rams head to Chicago, Illinois to face off with Loyola Chicago, a rematch of the league's championship match from last season. Friday's match will kick off at 7 p.m. (EST).
